ACADEMICA, launched in 2015, focused on modernising technical and engineering education and training a new generation of engineers through cooperation with ministries and business partners. The consortium brought together 15 organisations from Bulgaria, Austria, Italy, Spain, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Over three years, the partners developed innovative e-learning methodologies and strengthened lecturers' transversal and key competences. Modern infrastructure and technological environments were established at the Turkmen State Institute of Finance and the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, alongside modernised curricula and ICT-based teaching methods.

The Turkmen partner institutions updated six courses in line with labour market needs, national priorities and Bologna principles. The programmes were approved and piloted with student groups using virtual learning environments created within the project. All planned equipment was purchased, installed and put into operation.

In addition to the planned training, three further training sessions for lecturers were organised, and an elective course, "How to Work with Moodle", was developed. These activities enhanced the teaching staff’s digital and pedagogical skills. The project also contributed to the development of Turkmenistan’s Integrated Educational Platform, "Sanly Bilim", based on Moodle.

ACADEMICA strengthened cooperation between higher education institutions, business and communities and improved graduates' adaptability to labour market needs. Business partners, including major banks, the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs and Turkmen Air Company, actively contributed to project activities and dissemination. The project’s results remain sustainable due to Turkmenistan’s growing demand for IT development and engineering professionals.
