CirculEC started in January 2023 targeted to strengthen the capacity of higher education institutions in Central Asia in the field of circular economy and to integrate updated circular economy content into Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, taking into account national needs and priorities. Key activities and results in Turkmenistan in 2024:
- Circular economy modules are being integrated into Bachelor’s and Master’s curricula.
- Teaching materials, methodological guidelines and multimedia content are being developed. Training activities are regularly organised for academic staff to support the introduction of new courses.
- A study visit to European partner institutions in Bielefeld (Germany), Naples (Italy) and Santiago de Compostela (Spain) was organised in April.
- The Green Economy Research Centre was established at the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management to support educational and research activities. Students participate in piloting learning materials.
- Start-up projects, round tables and other activities related to circular and green economy.
- Conferences, seminars and round tables are organised to promote knowledge and exchange good practices.
- Regular coordination meetings with project partners are held to monitor progress and discuss results.
The CirculEC project responds to the needs of Turkmenistan and the wider Central Asian region by contributing to human capital development, sustainable development and the modernisation of higher education. It supports the preparation of specialists capable of addressing current environmental and economic challenges.
