CirculEC project partners implemented their first mobility visits

4 May 2024

The EU universities organised first mobility visits for CA partners which started from the FHM University in Bielefeld, Germany, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and completed in Naples, Italy. The unusual project start contributed to the consolidation and future partnership of EU and CA participants, their effective engagement in the activities, and as well as revising the basics of circular economy.

The CirculEC project aims to build human capital capacity in Central Asian higher education institutions on the circular economy to provide staff, students and the general public with skills and competencies relevant to the needs of local labor markets and environmental challenges faced currently by Central Asia countries.

The first mobility day in each country was dedicated to presenting the implementation of circular economy in the universities of the EU partners. On the second day the CA partners visited the private sector, companies and research laboratories. As a result, there was an exchange of experiences and best practices in integrating circular economy disciplines into the curricula of various educational institutions across the European Union and Central Asia.

Main conclusions made by the project partners:
— The workshops successfully met the expectations of the participants, providing them with a deep understanding of the implementation of the circular economy in both higher education and the private sector.
 — Participants were able to interact directly with various educational tools and methods, improving their practical skills and theoretical understanding of the circular economy.
— The event facilitated significant knowledge exchange and promoted the potential for future cooperation between EU and Central Asian partners.
— The Design Thinking approach presented during the workshops was particularly effective in developing creative problem solving skills among the participants.

Four Turkmen partners took part in the project mobility. According to their opinion, they could improve theoretical and practical understanding of the circular economy application in both higher education and in the private sector, as well as facilitated knowledge exchange and developing potential for the future project activities. The project is very important for Turkmenistan: Turkmen partners are determined to implement all activities and actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
